Vogue Editor Anna Wintour Given Title of Dame by Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth II the royal matriarch, has given Anna Wintour, American Vogue editor, the honor of the knighted title of Dame for her contributions to journalism. Wintour met with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace and was bestowed the honor of dame (which is the female equivalent of knighthood). And yes, when it came time to greet the queen, Wintour politely removed her signature oversized sunglasses which seemingly never leave her face before she entered the room. While the Conde Nast creative director has yet to publicly acknowledge her new damehood, her daughter Bee Shaffer took to Instagram on Friday to congratulate her mom. “Dame AW,” she captioned a photo on Instagram. Wintour, 67, is considered to be one of the most influential people in the fashion industry.

Wintour was raised in London and was formerly the editor of British Vogue before she moved to American Vogue in 1988. In 2013, she became the artistic director of Conde Nast. In addition to her magazine duties, she is a chair of the annual Met Ball and oversees its star-studded guest list. She honored Rei Kawakubo, a Japanese fashion designer at the Met Gala in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute last Monday. Which by the way is A.K.A. “Fashion’s Biggest Night.” Naturally when receiving her award, the fashionista dressed in a Chanel coat and donned her signature sunglasses but what everyone is really talking about is how she also sported a rare smile. That rare smile social media is chatting up is most likely due to the rumored Wintour comparison to the character in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” starring Meryl Streep. Her reportedly aloof and demanding personality has earned her the nickname “Nuclear Wintour”. “She’s the scariest woman in the whole wide world,” said one designer. “Not the kind of gal you’d want to cross.” If true, then a smile on her face would be noticed first even before the pink Chanel suit or the Dame cross pinned to it. Lol! You can all call her “Dame” Anna Wintour now!

Will Wintour Feel Honor of Dame Knighthood The “Crowning Achievement” Of Her Career?

Susan Z’s Conclusion:

No. I believe Wintour’s general outlook on life is “it’s never enough” so this is just another notch on her belt of accomplishments. I feel she is never satisfied with herself or what she has accomplished or anyone else.

Two of Cups:
This card represents new relationships. I believe Wintour is considering her personal life more than she has before. Her youngest daughter is newly engaged and it may be having an emotional impact on her.

The Emperor: Inverted (Upside Down)
This card represents a power hungry and controlling male. Since it is inverted I feel this may be Wintour’s basic personality of knowing how to get to the top in a male dominated environment.

Eight of Wands:
This card represents sudden and fast changes. I believe this card has come up for Wintour as she is about to make some sudden crucial career announcements in the next year or two.
